Packaging design for a cat litter
Traditional cat litter packaging often relies on stereotypical solutions: images of pets and soft, light colours that symbolize cleanliness. We observed that such designs might fail to create an emotional connection with consumers, as they focus on functionality, which doesn’t always reflect the modern view of pets as integral family members.
Our goal was to highlight the emotional aspect of pet care through design. A home is where cats feel safe and relaxed, and we wanted the packaging to convey that same emotional comfort. The potential buyer should feel that their pet will enjoy using this litter.
Instead of a realistic depiction, we created a stylized orange cat sitting comfortably in a chair, evoking a sense of calm and contentment. This metaphor emphasizes that comfort is essential both for pets and their owners. Bright and contrasting colours were selected to make the product stand out on the shelf and create a memorable image. We deliberately stepped beyond conventional colour schemes, crafting a palette that balances bold contrasts while maintaining a sense of warmth and cosiness.
In the Potty Pot design, we focused on the emotional dimension, breaking stereotypes to make the brand more visible and appealing to consumers who seek individuality in reliable pet care products. We created packaging that helps the brand stand out among competitors and instils a sense of trust in consumers.
